Thailand and the EU co-hosted the 3rd ASEAN-EU High Level Dialogue (HLD) on Maritime Security

With an excellent European and ASEAN participation (inter alia, Rear Admiral Gluzko, Deputy Director General of the EU Military Staff; Rear Admiral Credendino, Operation Commander EU NAVFOR MED Operation Sophia; Marku Mylly, Executive Director of EMSA; and Bogdan Aurescu, Romanian President’s Foreign Policy Advisor), the 3rd HLD on Maritime Security strengthened ASEAN’s understanding of the EU as maritime security provider. The HLD focused on trust and confidence in maritime areas, the role of preventive diplomacy in reducing tensions, situation awareness and safety, need for exchanges of information in tackling transitional crime at sea, migration, piracy, and port and container security. Based on the outcomes, a list of recommendations was endorsed by the 21st ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting. For more information, please see the press release.
