Senior EU officials in charge of Copernicus visited Jakarta in October 2017 to meet and discuss with relevant ASEAN counterparts.

Copernicus delivers Earth Observation on a global level. About 20 Copernicus “Sentinel satellites” are designed to monitor atmosphere, marine and land ecosystems. Copernicus also collects information from ground stations, and combines all data into user-ready information (maps; statistics). EU and ASEAN are considering improved provision and advanced processing of Copernicus data to better address ASEAN environmental goals (e.g. deforestation or marine litter).
