18-20 January | Jakarta, Indonesia

The second round of negotiations on the ASEAN-EU Comprehensive Air Transport Agreement (CATA) was held in January in Jakarta. This ambitious agreement would be the first ever region-to-region aviation agreement. In June, EU Member States authorised the European Commission to conduct negotiations on their behalf. Comprehensive EU-level aviation agreements aim to create new business opportunities, improve market access and ensure fair competition under transparent market conditions. ASEAN and the EU will meet for a third round in May 2017 in Helsinki, Finland. For more information, please see the European Commission website.
