EU, together with Australia and the Philippines, hosted an ARF Workshop on Mainstreaming the Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE), co-chaired by the Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at the EEAS, Mr Gunnar Wiegand, and EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, Mr Gilles de Kerchove. PVE is one of the five priorities of the ARF Work Plan for Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime, showing a consciousness among the 27 ARF members of the need to exchange practices and develop a coordinated strategy. The EU actively fosters cooperation on security-related matters with ASEAN and the ARF, demonstrating its significant contribution to the regional security architecture.
